And Satan stood up against Israel， and provoked David to number Israel.
21：2 大卫就吩咐约押和民中的首领说，你们去数点以色列人，从别是巴直到但，回来告诉我，我好知道他们的数目。
And David said to Joab and to the rulers of the people， Go， number Israel from Beersheba even to Dan； and bring the number of them to me， that I may know it.
21：3 约押说，愿耶和华使他的百姓比现在加增百倍。我主我王阿，他们不都是你的仆人吗。我主为何吩咐行这事，为何使以色列人陷在罪里呢。
And Joab answered， The LORD make his people an hundred times so many more as they be： but， my lord the king， are they not all my lord's servants？ why then doth my lord require this thing？ why will he be a cause of trespass to Israel？
21：4 但王的命令胜过约押。约押就出去，走遍以色列地，回到耶路撒冷，Nevertheless the king's word prevailed against Joab. Wherefore Joab departed， and went throughout all Israel， and came to Jerusalem.
21：5 将百姓的总数奏告大卫，以色列人拿刀的有一百一十万。犹大人拿刀的有四十七万。
And Joab gave the sum of the number of the people unto David. And all they of Israel were a thousand thousand and an hundred thousand men that drew sword： and Judah was four hundred threescore and ten thousand men that drew sword.
21：6 惟有利未人和便雅悯人没有数在其中，因为约押厌恶王的这命令。
But Levi and Benjamin counted he not among them： for the king's word was abominable to Joab.
21：7 神不喜悦这数点百姓的事，便降灾给以色列人。
And God was displeased with this thing； therefore he smote Israel.
21：8 大卫祷告神说，我行这事大有罪了。现在求你除掉仆人的罪孽，因我所行的甚是愚昧。
And David said unto God， I have sinned greatly， because I have done this thing： but now， I beseech thee， do away the iniquity of thy servant； for I have done very foolishly.
21：9 耶和华吩咐大卫的先见迦得说，And the LORD spake unto Gad， David's seer， saying，
21：10 你去告诉大卫说，耶和华如此说，我有三样灾，随你选择一样，我好降与你。
Go and tell David， saying， Thus saith the LORD， I offer thee three things： choose thee one of them， that I may do it unto thee.
21：11 于是，迦得来见大卫，对他说，耶和华如此说，你可以随意选择，So Gad came to David， and said unto him， Thus saith the LORD， Choose thee
21：12 或三年的饥荒。或败在你敌人面前，被敌人的刀追杀三个月。或在你国中有耶和华的刀，就是三日的瘟疫，耶和华的使者在以色列的四境施行毁灭。现在你要想一想，我好回覆那差我来的。
Either three years' famine； or three months to be destroyed before thy foes， while that the sword of thine enemies overtaketh thee； or else three days the sword of the LORD， even the pestilence， in the land， and the angel of the LORD destroying throughout all the coasts of Israel. Now therefore advise thyself what word I shall bring again to him that sent me.
21：13 大卫对迦得说，我甚为难。我愿落在耶和华的手里，因为他有丰盛的怜悯。我不愿落在人的手里。
And David said unto Gad， I am in a great strait： let me fall now into the hand of the LORD； for very great are his mercies： but let me not fall into the hand of man.
21：14 于是，耶和华降瘟疫与以色列人，以色列人就死了七万。
So the LORD sent pestilence upon Israel： and there fell of Israel seventy thousand men.
21：15 神差遣使者去灭耶路撒冷，刚要灭的时候，耶和华看见后悔，就不降这灾了，吩咐灭城的天使说，够了，住手吧。那时，耶和华的使者站在耶布斯人阿珥楠的禾场那里。
And God sent an angel unto Jerusalem to destroy it： and as he was destroying， the LORD beheld， and he repented him of the evil， and said to the angel that destroyed， It is enough， stay now thine hand. And the angel of the LORD stood by the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite.
