Finally, let us go back to this matter of ALL employees taking the course. Do all employees need the course? The benefits seem clear enough for, say, editors and new manuscript reviewers. Ditto for secretaries and computer-assisted typesetters. But for proofreaders, say? Do we want proofreaders who, in effect, simply scan pages? How about support personnel like security guards, and janitors? Do they even need to speed read? Their job is so little reading. Clearly, the director needs to think this through, yes, more slowly.
