PROPOSAL TO CHANGE THE PHYSICAL EDUCATION REQUIREMENT
The college is considering a proposal from the dean’s office that would increase the physical education requirement of the core curriculum form one course to two courses. If approved by a vote of the administration, the new requirement will become effective in the fall semester. At the same time, the college will offer several new physical education courses, including martial arts, dance, and team sports. Students are invited to express their views on the proposed change at a meeting in Room 100 of the Administration Building at 2:00 this Friday.

Question:
    The man expresses his opinion about the physical education requirement. State his opinion and explain the reasons he gives for holding that opinion.
 
Sample answer:
    In this set of materials, the reading passage is a proposal to change the physical education requirement and the listening passage is a discussion by two students on the same topic.
According to the reading passage, the college will think about increasing the number of physical education from one to two.
    In the  conversation , the students discuss the proposal. The man seems to be against the proposal. First, because he thinks his main job is to study not to exercise. Also, he thinks it should be his own business to decide whether to exercise. Finally, he has already done a lot of physical exercise, like basketball, hiking, and rock climbing.

EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE
Emotional intelligence consists of self-awareness, self-control, self-motivation, enthusiasm, and social ability. People with emotional intelligence understand their feelings and manage them in ways that are positive and helpful. They make decisions about life—what job to pursue, what direction to take, and whom to marry—with greater confidence and skill than people with low or no emotional intelligence. Their people skills make them more likely to succeed at relationships, cooperation, and leadership, and less likely to engage in risky or criminal behavior.

Question:
    The professor discusses a study on emotional intelligence. Explain how emotional intelligence affects the experiences of young people like those in the study.

Sample answer:
    In this set of materials, the reading passage is about Emotional intelligence and the listening passage is lecture by a professor on the same topic.
    According to the reading passage, people with Emotional intelligence react to their feelings in positive ways. They are more confident and more likely to succeed.
    According to the listening material , people with Emotional intelligence understand their feelings, just a 16-year-old boy who is very sensitive. He says he has problems because he is talented. But people think his life is easy because he’s got talent. Also, people with Emotional intelligence  thinks about and feels everything. This will usually lead to problems.
