NO.I ---英语作文之选词策略
作文的第一环节是选词,英语不像汉语那样的选词标准,后者更偏重文采,而英语作文讲究平易,朴实,简洁,堆砌辞藻不仅不能得高分,反而让人觉得啰嗦. 汉语中多概略化的词(general words),而英语中要求具体,明晰(specific & clear words )。
A.概略化与具体化
e.g ：作文中用的较多的概略化的词,如good,bad，其实有很多具体化的词可以代替它们，如:
1. It is beneficial to do physical exercises every day.(代替good )
2. It the weather is favorable,we are going to climb the mountain.(代替good)
3. This method has both positive and negative effects.(代替good &bad)
B 重复与简洁
同样的意思如果用在文章中的不同位置，就要考虑换词了哦。如：“很流行”就有become popular, enjoy great popularity,gain increasingly popularity.etc..
e.g:Education is important to one’s career.Most of the young people hope to get higher education at college.
However,the tuiton for college education is quite high,it is hard for some students to afford the money.How can one get enough money to pay the tuition?
In fact,there are many ways to solve the problem.....besides these two ways ,one can get loan from the bank.
Among the three means mentioned above,I don’t think the second way is quite good.
这是一篇作文的三个不同片段。大家仔细读会发现“get”出现了三次。所以老师的修改建议里，第一个和第三个分别用“acquire,obtain”代替。
在很多情况下我们会有意识到地避免重复名词但副词和形容词的重复却没有引起重视，：历史古迹/重要转折点/宝贵财富，这些常被我们不假思索地写成“historical relic,important turning point,valuable treasure”事实上，它们的意思都暗含在后一个词当中
