It’s highly significant that Deputy Assistant Commissioner Peter Clarke who is leading the London investigation decided to go to Scotland himself. That and the similarities between the attacks tend to suggest they were carried out by the same individuals or by members of the same cell. The decision to raise the threat level to critical reflects concern that those responsible have the capability and intent to carry out further bombings.
