HEILIGENDAMM (AFP) - Prime Minister Tony Blair has met Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the G8 summit Friday, with relations between the two countries at a post-Soviet low. Tensions between London and Moscow have surged in recent months, notably over the radiation poisoning death of former Russian agent Alexander Litvinenko, whose associates accuse the Kremlin of being behind his murder. Blair went into the G8 summit in Heiligendamm stating that he would have a "frank" discussion with Putin, whose cause he championed before he became Russian leader. But Blair's official spokesman told reporters Friday: "This isn't going to be a lecture. It's not going to be a stand-up row. "It's going to be a conversation but the prime minister will be honest in this conversation about the choices Russia faces."
