　　握手是一种礼貌的举动，表示友谊和接受。从前，陌生人相遇时会产生怀疑和恐惧。为了防止突然互相攻击，双方将右手握在一起以保证互不侵犯，表明双方都不准备使用武器。现在握手已成为男女通用的肢体语言。握手不仅表示互相问候，而且也表示定约。
 
　　Shaking hands is a polite gesture indicating friendship and acceptance. At one time, however, meeting with a stranger aroused suspicion and fear. To prevent each other from suddenly attacking, strangers joined right hands as a pledge of nonaggression, thus demonstrating that neither party was about to use a weapon. Handshaking is now an activity practiced by both men and women not only to greet one another, but to seal a contract as well
