我觉得It 是形式主语，to find ..是目的，而后面的that从句是真正的主语。

我的翻译是：举行这样针对于科学在社会中的地位的整体调查，其目的是回答这些问题，这些问题不只是学术问题也是应用性问题。

但答案是：这些不仅仅关于学术而且关于现实的问题的答案即将被发掘，并且关于解答科学在社会中的定位的有关所有询问的工作也已经开展。

请研友给点意见。
